The Dog is for sale!

Ladies and gents,

The sad day :( has finally arrived. THE DOG IS FOR SALE"

You have all seen my long running thread "theres life in the old dog yet" - you have seen the ups & the downs, the twists and turns.

As you may or may not know, I have now moved to lincolnshire, started a new job and am busy renovating the house.

I just dont have the time to do anything with the Dog for the foreseeable future and dont want him just sitting there going to seed.

plus I need the money to pay the plumber as we have no running water in the house!

ok,
some plus points
11 months (might be 10 now) MOT - 1 advisory for worn front king pin
5 months tax

recon cav fuel pump, new pistons, rings, big ends, gudgeon pins, head gasket, valves, push rods, rockers etc, new water pump, re-cored block, new rad, K&N filter, Kenlowe fan, new alternator, new fuel filter assembly. Diff & gearbox lubricants flushed and changed.

brand new massive heavy duty engine battery
brand new massive leisure battery
Solar panel with intelligent split charger for engine & leisure battery.
Spare small emergency battery in passenger seat footwell.

Old Skool cherry bomb exhaust (does not make it sound like a dragster)

Drives fine (well as fine as a commer can!)

the obvious bad points.
1. There is the matter of the small fire that occurred when the oil pressure gauge line burst driving up here last month - damaged the alternator wiring which has a temporary fix in place. But the van plodded on after the repair for another 75 miles to get me here.
2. The cab has my oily handprints all over it from said oil leak
3. - now this is probably one of two things - after approx 25 miles the oil pressure drops when at idle (oil is hot) this is either a worn oil pump (could be a passing relief) or worn main crankshaft bearings.
both require dropping the sump off the engine to get to - but both are easy once the sump is off. Before the oil gauge failed it would read approx 15psi at idle when hot (manual says 25-30psi at full speed) boating forums refer to the perkins 4108 as needing 10psi per 1000 rpm
4. the domestic lighting in the back had the wires robbed to carry out the temporary engine wiring repair.

Thats a snapshot - but I urge anyone interested to fully read my readers ride thread for the full over view.

I am going to leave it open for people to make private sensible offers.

I have spent in excess of £11,000 on this van but am fully aware I am never going to get anywhere near that as it sits.

So thats it, a sad day but there you go.

I will leave it on offer here for a few weeks then Ebay here we come

.... This isnt the end of Commers for me, I may well look at getting another in the future once the house is sorted and we are fully settled in.

Before you sell take him up to Martin's in Sep so you can at least have one weekend's camping in him.

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

I am gutted for you Lee....but this had a kind of inevitability about it after all the grief you have had getting it to this point.
Good luck with the sale.
