The big move

For those of you who have seen my progress in Vive le rust porn, this week is the week of the big move, when I have to vacate my workshop. It started well last weekend when the new owner of my 'spare' R17 came from Dorset to collect it.

Today, it was my turn to move cars. I had booked a swish new recovery vehicle, but last week it broke down, so while it is being repaired, its owner bought a knackered old LDV to see him through. It was perfect!

This side is still very much work in progress.

Here's a bit I did earlier!

Not much room to work and no power, but it's nice and dry.

That's a big thing off your mind, now for all that elbow grease.
You'll have to invest in a load of battery operated power tools - and lots of spare batteries;)

Day 2 went well. I hired a van and shifted the contents of the workshop, ably assisted by Liz and my youngest son Jack. I moved a 6 foot metal cabinet, a chest of drawers, engine gearbox and set of allow wheels to the lock-up. Everything else came home to my garage, which 24 hours ago was home to Bertie the Punto Cabrio. He is now living on the drive. It is amazing how much 'stuff' I have, Three spare doors, three rear seats, four front seats, enough glass for about 4 cars including two sets of tinted glass, driveshafts, pistons, crankshaft, camshaft, exhausts, lots of trim items (hens teeth), carpets and rubber seals. I also have a complete front end for a phase 2 R17 (will come in useful for someone) and other spares that I know I won't need (but someone else might). These include about 3 twin choke Webber carburettors (mine is fuel injection) and associated manifolds, rear brake shoes and cylinders (mine has rear discs).
I have my name down on a waiting list for another garage to store all this, but in the meantime, this is what my garage looks like.

The only thing left at the workshop is the rubbish. Unfortunately, this is the last week of winter opening times at out household waste site, so it shut at 4 and I couldn't get there in time. That will be a job for Friday, if I can borrow my son's car.

Nice work. Glad you got moved ok.

Here's a pic of my "stores dept" what you cant see is the piles of stuff in the rest of the 42x18 ManFacility lol
