That's it... It's Happening...

Well, what an adventure!!! a bit frustrating and a very long day as you say....i feel sure Panky could be right about the coil and also nothing a good service will sort ot............you will by now be weary and excited at the same time and by this time next week you will just feel full of pride and be totally in love with Mutley and totally looking forward to the next adventure!..........Congratulations and welcome once again to the world of Commers[8D]

Definitely been an adventure. Coil is on the list of suspects. Wot get chance till Monday realistically to investigate it though.
Just passing Newcastle. That means we're on the right side of the border and only about 3 hours travelling time left. Thank God. Been on the go for over 18 hours so far...

Hmmmm... Ask me tomorrow when I've made it home and had some sleep. Just had a service way panini. First food since... I can't remember! Waiting for the relay company to come back with a flat bed. They turned up with a spec lift. D'oh!
 
Finally, very nearly a full 24 hours after leaving the house, Mutley is being unloaded. He's (hopefully) going to do the last couple of miles under his own steam. Partly to make unloading a whole lot easier but also for a bit of pride!

Be getting a few pics up, not as many as I'd hoped but a few. For now its bed time... Night all!

Managed an hour and a half sleep before the alarm rudely went off. Was in two minds whether to sack it off and just tinker with the van but its an important day so I dragged my sorry backside out of bed. Then the girlfriends cos I left my car at work. Fortunately she has a sense of humour. Coupled with the fact she could go back to bed meant I got to work and am on me way. Van'll. have to wait till tomorrow. He's on the drive and That's achievement enough in itself!

Before you change the coil check the lead from the coil to the dizzy, Mine was shorting onto the top hose from a 'spark booster' lump the lead went through. Actually caused it to cut out completely sometimes completely randomly, and in hindsight had some 'choked feelings' you describe and sorted the starting issues we had for a while. Changed the lead and everything has been great since. I guess a dodgy coil would give the same symptoms.
 
I've not had chance to look yet, but going to get onto it this week. Rotor arm, dizzy cap, leads etc all appeared good and couldn't see any sparks escaping when it was dark. Probably replace them all as a matter of course though.

Need to look over the bodywork and see what I need to gather together for a winter tidy up.
 
Got to say, I'm just about back to normal after the weekend. Saturday was a long day too, but once I got back it was faceplant the bed and spend Sunday just hanging around looking dazed.

Looking out on the drive and seeing Mutley there with the other cars is a nice sight and well worth it though. [8D]
 
I'd recommend you get your dizzy parts from the Distributor Doctor - many new rotor arms etc are repro parts and often fail, DD's parts are far superior.

That Feeling Lasts for ages m8. still puts a big smile on my face EVERY time i come home and see dolly sat there :)

New coil, rotor arm and dizzy cap fitted. No improvement. Light was failing so didn't want to do anything silly with the points. Got a new set anyway. New leads need making up so not got them on yet.

My gut instinct is still overfueling. Starts fine, but after a mile he's still spluttering. [V] I'll get it sussed though. Plugs were a little sooty and wet. Cleaned them up. New set needed, but not till I've got it running right.

On the plus side I've got a bit of reading that came with the van. As well as a few original handbooks it came with a copy of CV&P which it was featured in a couple of years ago! Found a spare on e-bay too! [8D]
