Testing pictures ready for Smurfette news!!!

Nearly - Cazz has gone to bed dreaming of Commers and Smurfs. OMG it sounds like a short animated film from eastern Europe, very scary - remember The Judderman [:0][}:)][:0]

Oh well, ok then!

Cazz is at work tonight, so you will have to put up with my ramblings!

We met Steve at Blenheim Palace car show (think he was a bit peeved his car didn't win a prize!)

Anyway gorgeous day for it. Cazz and the boys were SO excited. The Smurfette looked stunning all polished up for the show!

Steve is a thoroughly nice bloke. He had done over and above what we had agreed when we saw her 3 weeks ago.

You should have seen Cazz's face! we walked around the show and when we went back to the van, Steve was lying under the van with his son and a collection of spanners etc, Cazz was horrified!! You could tell she was petrified that this would mean we wouldn't be taking her home.

Apparantly, Steve hadn't been able to get more than 15 litres of fuel into her and decided to investigate! His discovery was shocking! A previous owner had cut through the fuel breather pipe and blocked both ends with the nozzles of silicone tubes.[:0]

Why??? Haven't a clue, except maybe it was done when the under side was waxoyled???

Hey, Ho! a piece of pipe and a couple of jubilee clips soon had this sorted (Thanks Steve)

We left at about 4pm and headed off down the A34 with Steve driving to give me a feel for the way she handled etc.

We swapped and I drove for the next 30 miles or so onto the A303 and past Stonehenge to services near where the 303 meets the A350.

We parted company with Steve to continue the epic adventure back to Poole!

WEEEEEEEEEEEE! 65mph downhill.........and OOEERR! 28mph uphill lol.lol

She ran like a dream (I think) (in my limited experience lol)

All the gauges worked, we have fuel,we have a charging battery, we have a steady temperature and a speedo that works....Cool!

Hmm, getting dark, best put the lights on now I thought, bit dim I thought! maybe thats just the way it is I thought? Damn! now we are lost, oh well time to stop for a smoke anyway (me not the van)

[:0]:([:0] Only one headlight works and thats on full beam and now its pitch dark!! with the next 15 miles of the A350 vey twisty indeed!

Praise the lord for spot lights Steve fitted! I dipped them down so as not to blind anyone and off we trundled into the darkness.

Cazz was following me to the sound of 3 little voices ''are we nearly there yet mum'' and ''were hungry''

I thought my tired eyes were playing tricks on me, in my mirror it looked like Cazz had 20 pairs of headlights....then it dawned on me......just how long the queue was behind me lol.lol

we got home just after 9 with no incident at all apart from the lights and 3 very tired children!

By the time we fed and waterd them we were shattered and called it a day. I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark and Cazz does a couple of night shifts so now we got to wait untill the weekend before we can play and take some pics :(:(:(

That's normal for the lights - don't worry ;) Excellent, so glad you made it OK - major mechanicals OK, a couple of new sealed beam units ar cheap enough. You may want to consider upgrading them to halogen - Mini ones fit.

'Harvey the RV'

Apparantly the ones fitted are from a Sunbeam Rapier I think Steve said. I will have to ask him. it may just be bulbs or a fuse maybe? But yes halogen would seem a good idea. I must admit I'm a bit naive about such things :)

see..... the lifeboat was needed after all :D
glad you made it ok ;)
halogen lights is a very good idea [^] we fitted them to the riley with 130/100 watt bulbs and surprisingly we never get dazzled any more :D

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off no.3"

Welcome Home, glad you had a good run - sounds lovely :):)

Bessie's got halogens, if you'll pardon the terrible pun, they're absolutely brilliant :D work really well - apart from the dipswitch which occasionally plunges everything into darkness[|)]

Good luck with Smurfette - sounds like you have an excellent buy there - one headlight out probably only a bulb gone, should be easy to sort out:)

glad you got back ok,couldnt answer as we carried onto lyme regis for 3 days and only just got back
puzzled with the lights as they are new old stock and the second pair ive fitted, the first pair also blew dipped beam, must be due to sitting around for so long so i would go the halogen route
the breather pipe was amazing, ive never seen a bodge like it,soon as we took out the silicone nozzles and rejoined it the problem dissapeared,
sad to see her go as she was running spot on but DEFINETLY gone to the right owners.
good thing tho my other half has now decided how handy a camper would be!!!!
ah well time to move onto one of the vans probably the newark one first

She is just great... Been out in her today giving her a good clean out, Oliver helped, well sort of, lol bless him, he loves it!!!
Your wife was saying how great it had been to have somewhere to sit at the car show... You will be on the look out again soon then.
