Temperature

So I’ve ordered an electric fan kit with an adjustable thermostat switch is there an ideal temperature for it to kick in ??

The thermostat is usually set at 88 deg C so you want the fan to cut in around 95, so it's not running all the time, and to cut out above the thermostat setting.
Out of interest why are you fitting the fan.

The original fan got bent quite badly on Sunday when it attacked the radiator and I’d been thinking about fitting a electric one for a while, I’ll try to get another original fan in case I put it back standard again.

What type of fan did you fit as I'll be interested in fitting one to mine as and when I get around to it..!

I didn’t use the electric fan in the end because I managed to get another original fan so the only thing I’ve changed is moving the radiator slightly forward for a bit more gap between it and the fan because I haven’t found anything wrong that cause the fan to hit the radiator !. The fans still inside the radiator cowlings so should be fine I’ve not been out in it yet to see if the bike radiator is helping.

Do you have overdrive? The reason I ask is that if the overdrive is supported on the usual kind of trapeze hanger, combined with engine mount failure, the engine can move fore and aft under braking. Also might cause the steering ball joints to contact the sump. Just a thought.....

Little update, just got back from a good drive to test the bike rad and cooling without the heater connected and it’s ok temp stayed around half way on the gauge so hopefully that will do !!.
