I started to read this thread mages ago and opened the link to the newspaper article.
I didn't scrole far enough down and just thought it was about the guy in his merc Van.
Only today have i scrolled down further and seen the sickening pictures of WAP. This was the Van that i fell in love with but didn't have the dollar at the time.
Can't believe it has all gone wrong for this little gem of a van, I feel truly gutted for you and your Family Bob.:(
I say lets steal it back from the insurers and hide in Woolfys lock up,Then all chip in and get it back to former glory, I know of some rotting commers near where i live, i'll get number plates and tags from them, bobs your uncle ;) i'm up for it :)

Really sorry to drag this subject up again but did we find out the outcome of the van[?] and on a slightly different tangent does anyone know how many MK1 commers were made or survive as ive never seen one until bob rolled up at commerfest[?][?][?][?][?]

The early bird catches the worm... but the early worm gets eaten first!

I've only just read this topic, what a horrible experienece to go through. I hope the outcome is positive.

For reference I insure all of my cars with Richard Hoskins, this stipulates that I have salvage rights and an agreed value (+ full European breakdown recovery). All aspects of this cover have been tested by friends in the last few years, they have always paid up without any quibble whatsoever.

Hope this may be of use in the future to others.

Cheers

You were the unfortunate victim and you tried your best against the bureaucratic mountain that is insurance. There is an obvious lesson to be had here one that I haven't heeded, although I've got agreed value I didn't check if I had a buy back clause - just in case - but when the renewal is up I'll be making sure.
Still hate you;)

"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

The stupid thing is, the Ins Co would have saved some money by letting bob buy it back. Bob would then have supported the UK classic car industry/community by buying new bits for it. When completed it would have to be insured again putting money back into the insurance industry - nobody loses!

Thanks dudes,i want another commer but she who must be obeyed wants a bigger camper now that the little one is to big for the hammock in a pop up.

Best wishes and regards to you Bob with everything that you have had to go through in recent times. Good to hear that you want another Commer too. Certainly been a part of conversation over this part of the world with everything you have endured regarding insurance companies, even if way over there.
