Suitable engine replacement.

Welcome to the forum.
Engine swop wise this van was having a Volvo engine fitted I believe.
I know of a van with a Ford zetec engine and I believe a sierra gearbox.
Vauxhall red top and manta gearbox is an option.
Kermit has a supercharged rover v8.
My van is getting a tuned 6.6 ford v8 fitted.
Anything is possible with time and money.
 
Thanks Paul for your reply. Im fairly ugnorant when it comes to engines gear boxs etc. So obviously if im getting a new engine ill need a gear box to facilitate that along with suitable brakes etc etc. V8 sounds sublime but way out of my reach. Ford Zetec and sierra gear box sounds more cheaper? I know its a difficult question to answer but engine gear box brakes etc 2 grand?

Is there a meet/organised event where such vehicles can be viewed and bought. I knows theres such an event for vintage Ford's.

Welcome. I don’t know enough about all that. There are plenty of people on here that do though. :)

I budgeted 5 grand.... That went ages ago!
 
The standard 1725 engine can be tuned to give a decent hike in power and/or torque. Tim (commerracer) does SU carb conversion kits and Martin Maltas does exhausts. You can fit overdrive gearboxes for improved refinement and economy or Tim also does a 6 speed gearbox.
 
The Zetec conversion is a 2.0 from a Mondeo and a type 9 gearbox from an older transit (upside down linkage helps) I believe he bought a full mondeo and stripped it so cost was tiny
 
It’s a long time since that van surfaced, unusual that it has a single back door which is a modification and quite well done.
