Differences of opinion is fine - everyone has a job to do and everyone can see different angles to a situation but please don't use this forum to air personal grievances or exchange insults. If you want to continue this conversation off line that's fine.
Please lets get back to the original intent of this thread and find Bruce's van, we are used to thread hi-jacks but this is too much.

Hi All, sorry all I guess I started the rant...

Finally here are some photos... sorry for the quality, but had to digi-photo standard photos we found from the day we bought the van a few years ago. The van had been cleaned up a little since, new locks (they helped ;o), but apart from that it looked almost identical as this when it was stolen the other week.

Bet you wonder why anyone would steal the van ;o)

It has an overdrive and runs well, just passed its MOT, new parts such as Exhaust Mounting, Washer Bag & Pump, etc...

Thanks Guys!!! Yes we loved it as it was. We bought bits and pieces when required and it ran great... Thought we'd renovate it fully at some stage, but hey ho... I keep thinking how sad it would be it it's been scrapped... apparently this is happening? Not sure how it works though, as I thought you had to have the V5 doc? One thing, at least I'm learning some useful info from you guys. THANKS!!![8D]

Yes, it's nickname is The Hobbit, as bought on Hobbits Lane, the name suited it... very distinctive... I'm still asking around... ?

The Highwayman is ours too (our second), but I have a special thing for The Hobbit, our first and a good run-around... LOL - Funny how they get under your skin... :)
 
Oh, BTW, not the most interesting fact, but when we bought the van it came with a spare windscreen with an old Glastonbury Site Van sticker on it...? The history of these Commers!!!
 
well if parts start being advertised you have some quite distinctive parts but sure pic's will help with a hopefull safe return in one piece.mini bus/wrap round windows makes it quite rare, roof quite rare,overdrive sought after sure there is more I haven't mentioned.
fingers still crossed I would be unbarable if this happened to me.

Just seen this and wanted to make it quite clear, in open forum, that I was referring to the existance of such people within the Police. Beachboy appears to have had dealings with such people. What I should have said is "Don't tar us all with the same brush".

Having now read the rest of this thread just want to add my best wishes in your endeavours to find your Commer. It really is quite unusual, the missing peak caught my eye straight away.

If you haven't already done so I would go to every scrapyard you can think of just in case, you never know - you may just find it in a corner awaiting the crusher and be able to save it. I'd hate it if anything happened to any of my classics.

bazzateer, agree!!!, there's good and bad in every profession... just that the Police can make a huge difference, so the difference between good and bad is massive... what I do (not worth talking about) changes very few peoples lives, so it's relatively insignificant, both the good and the bad... my fault with the rant, Sorry All... obviously a long way from being at peace over our missing van, but getting there thanks to you guys...

Thanks for the comments on the van all, real shame if it's gone for good... hope you're all enjoying your Commers this weekend, got to be the best Campervans!!!

I'll chase any remaining scrapyards on Monday. THANKS!!!
