Steering column boot - repair / replacement

After 60 plus years service...

... any thoughts on how to repair / replace this perishing rubber boot...

... current searches are, at best, taking me towards something off a tractor... Any smarter ideas...

Perished at top on join to column, and at floor but screws... But pretty delicate everywhere tbh.

You could try something like this. It's on Harvey's gearstick but I'm something similar would work for the column boot.

Qu. I've taken the very sadly expiring rubber boot off. Any reason it was so substantive... Thick rubber and much larger than the base of metalwork at the base of the column. In making a replacement am I needing to ensure a) I don't touch the joint, b) is it heat protection from the engine...

Trying to work out how to make and cover a wire frame for example, and how to reuse the screw holes to attach it to the floor...
