Staying Cool

Took the van to South Wales at the weekend to meet up with the family. All went well except the fridge wouldn't work at all. Not good for beery evenings.

Both the elements were OK but no cooling at all. A tip I picked up from "the dark side" is to take the fridge out and turn it upside down for a while.

I did that and it now works as it should.:)

Just thought I'd pass that one on!

In days of yor when I was a young gas fitter we used to "tip" full size gas fridges to try to get them going again, and more often than not it worked. They usually failed to start again after being turned off for de-frosting. For some reason that I could never fathom, one of the fluids either developed an air lock in the tubing or would just not return to the little boiler where the flame is. Not normally a problem for electric fridges because they are pumped round.

Ah well worth knowing as I’ve got to get my fridge going. Igniter switch doesn’t ‘click’ but a boiler chap said just take it out, clean it, give it a ‘tap’ and it should work again. I need to be careful with mine as it exhausts into van :( ZZZZZZZZ

I wouldn't use it until you get an outside flue kit fitted, those fumes are nasty:(

It is a very valid point, but it would only be on for a couple of hours and will hang a red tag to remind me and anyone else to stay out or turn off
