I have the engnine installed and wired (I think correctly!) there's fuel in the filter and the engine turns over. There's a spark on the plug I checked, but no firing. Any suggestions of what to check next?
BTW the carb seems to be leaking fuel from one of the gaskets, so that could be part of it, and after turning over a few times, fuel is pissing out of the "fuel pissing out nut" on the intake maqnifold, which I haven't noticed before!
Twist the dizzy clockwise, there will be just enough length on the HT leads and the vacuum advance should be just clear of the block - I know from bitter experience:I
It's the vacuum advance that makes me think that it may be 180 deg out - I was attaching the tube facing the rear of the engine, and thinking "I'm sure that used to face forward!"
OK, played around today, got it firing and running, but really roughly, like a tractor with a problem!
I didn't have time to do a proper check (get cylinder 1 tdc and check the position of the rotor arm) because the rain came in and stopped play!
BUT, assuming it is 180 deg out, how do I go about sorting it out?
I did the dizzy twisting thing, without welding gloves, and it worked! He' s now running, a bit rough, but that can be worked out at a later date. Just the clutch issue to sort now, then it's off to the nice MOT man!
