starter kaput

OK, the starter has finally packed in, wont crank and just gets very hot.[xx(]Its been giving us problems for some time.

As our van is an Automatic its out with the starting handle until we source a replacement.[:0]

My question is,
Can i use any Lucas M35G starter?,
Will this one be OK http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STARTER-MOTOR-LUCAS-MINI-HILLMAN-TORANA-ESCORT-12V-0-8Kw-LRS-102-NEW-/400549226572?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d4298284c&_uhb=1

Can someone recommend a common replacement?

Thanks.

They are all pretty much the same, but watch out for the pinions as they can have 9 or 10 teeth. Also the mounting flanges can vary, but can be swapped over :)

Thanks guys:)I will check teeth and flange size on mine against the specs on the new one before ordering it.

We are leaving Tasmania next week and will continue our travel's, now We will slowly make our way to Alice Springs, 2000klm away and I don't fancy hand cranking it in 30'C heat.

Glad it went now and not out there.
