Spring Commer Meet

yeah panky it did seem to suit us didn't it? Need to sort some night time loos though!:I I must admit, being able to have a couple of pints outside a pub while the kids sleep in the van a few meters away is a bonus!

I actually got back at around 6pm which inclided a 1/2 hour stop in Manchester to drop the kids off. The weather was fantastic on the way home and Jessica performed wonderfully - considering the exhaust manifold is gone (there were a couple of backfired too!)

I've certainly built up some confidence in the gearbox!

Hi all, glad you had a good weekend commering (he said, green with envy). Some great pic's just wish i could have been in them. Been busy with Thingyjig but progress is slow,6 layers of paint, the last having been applied with a trowel making it's removal a tiresome and time consuming exercise thats without the repairs needed when i have eventually got it off!:(.Still it will be worth it in the end. Hopefully ready mid - end of May;).
Glad the weather was reasonable for you,i don't think there has been many meets when it hasn't rained, perhaps the next one eh!!:p:p
Cheers

back to my "rootes"

As I said to you, on the trip to Steve's place, I am mightily impressed with your gearbox handywork - the overdrive is brilliant[^]

Hi Daytona:) Just wanted to say thanks for that rear door cupboard you gave us back at New Forrest! Was going to use it as apattern to make a new one, but decided to keep it old looking, so did as little as poss to repair it and it is now installed in Smurf:)

Your most welcome!I'm very glad it has been put back into service. I dont like throwing things like that away if they still have use in them!;)

back to my "rootes"

Hi all :) we made it back with no problems, despite joe lucas,s best efforts to rob us of a charging system [xx(]
even managed to find a new regulator and relay at weston park, although it after an alternator strip it turned out to be one exceedingly worn brush in the alternator, which i managed to strech just enough to give us a reasonable charge going home :)
so halfords made £40 out of me for nothing (thanks panky).
and thanks to jimmy for the battery swap ;)
all in all we had a good time, and enjoyed meeting everyone, and it was great to see steve,s fleet and come away with a new pair of sllliiddinng doors:p:p:p:p:p:p
hopefully next time we will be armed with a commer not a j1,j2,j3 j4[8D]
thanks rupert :D

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

I like it! Nothing quite as soothing as a commer in full flight.

All these pictures of the meet has spurred me on to sort Jessica's doors (that and the MOT man!) So she'll be off the road for a little while. Hopefully I won't be expecting the "Shed" trophy next time - thank goodness there wasn't one...

Aw guys, looks like you had a great weekend! And sooooo many new Commers!
Ours was spent removing the last of the paint from Frodo, and finding lots of new holes that need welding! - Are the roofs meant to be held to the body by more than filler, or is that standard Rootes fabrication?....

Thanks for the welcome, look forward to meeting you at the next meetquote:

Hi, Glad you all made it back. We made it to Cardiff no problems at all, gorgeous day for a drive too!!! The next challenge is from Cardiff to Peterborough which I have no doubt will go without any more hitches....
Thanks to all that helped out on my breakdown, especially to Phil for supplying a few parts and advice.:D
