We were driving in the country today and spotted a farm with lots of old trucks and buses including some Commer Knockers and this,

No one was about and Its a fair way from my home about 300klm but i will try and contact the farmer. Looks like lots of salvageable parts, love the roof rack[^]

Loving the roof rack too.

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.
 
If the owner let you loose on it and you don't need them yourself, I would be interested in the Drivers side outside door handle, as my van doesn't have one. Also the Ignition/light switch as mine has a Mini ignition and separate light switch, doesn't matter if the key is not available. I'm located in Sydney so a little further away than you, but closer the majority how are "up over"

Don't forget the quarter light rubbers for yourself if they are any good, easily overlooked.

Interesting, he has messed around with the COMMER lettering on the front, looks like RO MEC or has he tried to make RO MEO?? Got to be a story to this van.

I like the roof rack also, it's a shame that's it's been left to rot in a field. I wonder where his Juliet is?

It is a shame but i think it has been left outside because he has a lot of better stuff in an open sided barn i spied in the distance.
I could see at least 2 or 3 Commer/hillman express vans, some very rare Renault and Citroen vans plus an assortment of buses and trucks and vans that all looked very old and in quite good condition.

The Commer Van was on his boundary and Not wanting to trespass i didn't get close enough to take any photos of the barn but will if i get permission to have a look.

As rough as it looks, I suspect there would be very little rust of significance, just bottom of doors and the flutes along the side like mine. Mostly surface rust where the paint has thinned. Underneath the combination of the usual Pommy oil leaks and Aussie dust make a good sealant, especially as the van has probably sat there for years. We are blessed weatherwise with the benefit of no wet salty winter roads to accelerate rust.
