It was only as we passed each other that I spotted the faces of the occupants, the road was a twisty country road and I had to concentrate on my driving so it was only a fleeting glance really, sure it was them though as they live in Baldock.

Also, I had no idea what route the satnav was going to take me so didn't realise I'd be passing through Baldock at all!
At least my powers of observation are still intact, about the only part of me that is!

I want to know why you were actually going through Baldock - something that isn't necessary since the building of the A505 bypass? I had many interesting mornings and evenings going through the Baldock bottleneck on my daily commute between Amersham and Bury St Edmunds...... and managed to cause traffic chaos there in 1990 when my Maestro's fuel pump expired in the middle of the tesco's roundabout.
I regularly go and see a friend over in Thetford, and either go via Baldock or via St Neots - always nice to know commers are close by.

SatNavs rule the world nowadays - well. at least the roads. And drivers just follow their instructions like a flock of sheep. Give it ten years or so, and most people won't be able to read a map. In fact, they will ask you to spell the word, as they won't have a clue on what you're on about..

Lower Baxter St, I believe - worked for John Laings at the time. Mind you, it was 21 years ago now and was a long commute that fortunately I only had to do for 6 months on secondment to the office there from my base in Luton.
