This must be one of the most photographed Commers around. There used to be 2 on the drive, he has moved the other to a barn. I had a long chat with him a while back and he isn't interested in selling [V] Going to restore them one day, was his response.
I think it is a 'York' conversion. A friend of mine called in a couple of weeks ago, but nobody was home.

Thanks for enlighten us, Martin.

Very interesting with that rear side door (with proper early Highwayman door handle - or found on just about any fire engine at the time :I).

It also looks to be fairly long, slightly longer than most other coachbuilt campers.
And the angle of the rear end is also unusual.

Pictures have been around for years - no idea what actually happened to it, a Commer Aardvark I think it was(is)From the write up

Whats wrong with it?

It's been sitting in the garden for 10 years.
A rubber seal from the clutch is broken (reason why I stopped using it)
Rust is eating it alive (but not the back which is aluminium)
whatever else decays in 10 years in the garden.
The door to the back part is hanging off
I've lost the ignition keys!
One window is broken (golfball)
Brakes are seized (but apparently this can be fixed easily enough)

Lord knows what else has befallen it since[V]

Yes, I remember that one on Ebay a long time ago.

A shame this is lost, as I'm sure it is. Too far gone - even for being helicoptered out.

The land-locked Commer picture posted by Panky is a Commer Creighton, possibly the only one left? Built by Creighton Caravans of Nelson, Lancs. They were better known for their trailer caravans, trailer tents and cabin cruisers in the 60s and 70s. They also built an amphibious caravan

The Commer Aardvark is currently being restored, by a lady owner. Built for the Buddicum sisters, of Sussex, it featured a rear bay window. They also had a Paralanian specially built, which featured a side entry door If we ask nicely, Martin Watts may post a pic
