Hi,
The speedo's never worked on the Dodge since acquired.
Recently I've bought a speedo cable that was sold as suiting '71 to '80 Commer/Dodge (P/N SURESPEED 0788/120)
The gearbox end fits fine and appears to work/fit a lot better than the old one that appears pretty rounded off and wasn't turning the cable.
But the dashboard end doesn't fit the Speedo, it's much too small to go over the fitting.
I'm unsure now if the cable's wrong or whether the speedo isn't original.
The O/D of the speedo fitting that the cable end goes over is ~9.5mm
The I/D of the old cable fitting at the speedo end is ~9.5mm
The I/D of the new cable fitting at the speedo end is ~7.5mm
Anyone know whether the speedo's correct for the year of the Dodge ('78) or whether I've the wrong cable?
If the van's using some odd combination then I guess I'll need to send the current cable to someone like Speedy Cables and get it replicated, but if I just have the wrong cable I can order a correct one.
Cheers
Paul.
