Snapped dip stick

WHile i'm here and planning tomorrows battles...

I appear to have snapped the dip stick tube at the base where it goes into the sump. Was getting too dark to get a good look but looks like the base has a nut fixing?

Does it screw out?

This happened to my Commer last year, the tube is an interference fit and I would'nt put it off because any amount of oil ends up over the exhaust and starter motor etc.:(

Well that wasn't fun. Had to driill it out int he end :/ Amazing how change a starter can turn into a 3 day job!
