On taking it out I thought I had undone all the bolts so undid the support bracket....of course I had forgotten the top bolt....with the weight of the gearbox pulling the engine down I got it out easy, perhaps installing is a reverse prcedure?? or is that not really a good idea putting that much strain on the engine mounts??

You sussed it out, nip up the side bolts and lower the box down on a jack just far enough to get the bolt in.
