The engine will be freer revving but lumpier bottom end because of the lack of inertia of the heavier flywheel. I don't think there is much to be gained on a standard engine, it's usually a mod for high revving performance lumps. The exhaust and the new carb(with K&N) should do for now[^]

excuse my termanology..ok, from the bottom of picture up we have silver then black then silver....where the upper silver bit bolts to the black bit, there is one bolt that has sheared off.
If I remove the rest of the bolts is it easy to remove or will a load of cogs & stuff fall out? I was thinking of trying to get the broken bolt out to replace it, or am I best leaving it alone??

In answer to Q.1, none, but as Panky says it will allow the engine to spin up faster, it means it can get to its power faster, translates to quicker acceleration in the lower gears. you have to take a few pounds off to really notice it
Q.2 if you can get to it then sort it out, if not leave it

yeah I'd agree with Panky. The bolt that has sheared is connecting the overdrive adaptor to the gearbox housing. It will come off really easily (once the speedo adaptor is removed) , there is a gasket in there (available from Speedies) which should be replaced too. The problem is getting it all back together. The overdrive mainshaft must fit in to the overdrive properly and there are about three different components which must be aligned to get it in. When I did it, I had to look down the hole and turn the innards of the overdrive with a long screwdriver and a torch to try to align them. Then lift the (heavy) gearbox to try to fit it - not easy!
