I think you may be the first forum members other than chasbaps and skate to get a view of the v8
Only just read this... How exciting!!!! I hope i am not at work when you drop in.
Make it a Sat or Sun and we could go one a small outing with the vans
Cazz...Is just Commer mad, and talks a load of nonsense
well, managed to get out to play a little today, nothing too exciting I'm afraid...
managed to remove both quarter lights (adjustable ventillation units as per manual!) from Bluebell, both in really good condition including the rubbers, so they will be rubbed down and painted before going into Smurf (Martin was right in saying they are a bit fiddley to remove, now I know how though it's quite easy really)
Removed the battery box too, this will be remade with pressed alluminium so it wont rust. Smurf's battery is behind the passenger seat so we are going to move it to the passenger footwell
cheers for the tip Tim I will keep an eye on it. just thought it would better than rust given the amount of water that will be thrown up from the front wheel....
but on a more positive note, look what I got out of Bluebell today...
I actually got round to getting the o/drive box out
2 things to query;
1/ there was no oil to drain out, but no signs of any leaks?
2/ the double pinion at on end of the prop moves freely, the other end only moves one way (ie pivots ok left & right) but not up & down so to speak....I have soaked it in WD40 and it moved a little so am hoping that in the morning it will soak in and free up
2moz will be spent with a can of 'gunk' in one hand and a jet wash in the other...
By the double pinnion do you mean the universal joint, if so cheap and easy to replace. The lack of oil may be the reason why Bluebell was laid up in the first place - no oil - no OD :I
By the way - well done that man
Not much more to report, just gunked & jetted the gearbox, all shiny & clean now
Good news is I managed to free the 'universal' joint on the prop started off tapping it gently with a rubber hammer, then gripped it in the vice and just kept working WD40 into it, took about half an hour and it is free as a bird now
got Smurf up on the ramps ready for surgery[}][}]
Cazz's face was a picture it was like [:0]'what you doing to my baby'[:0]
