Skye is mobile again!!!!

Dozer came to the rescue on Wednesday. Skye was stuck on the driveway. Handbrake stuck.[:0][:0][:0] In my attempt to start her the battery was flat too[xx(][xx(]
When I came home from work Dozer was already under Skye having bashed the handbrake and lubricated it. Yay done we thought:D:D
NOT TO BE!!!
After scaring her half to death with the battery power surge she got, she wouldnt go into gear.[:(!][:(!]
Couldnt be the clutch again cos he fixed that before. Checked fluid and reach - no problems.[?][?]

ANSWER- Clutch plate rusted to flywheel due to lack of use:(:(

He started her up and had to let her go freewheel away and then slam on brakes to sever the plates hold on the flywheel. He went up the hill to a roundabout in first gear and then down and around braking in order to free the plate.

RESULT!!! Came whizzing back round the corner, backward wheel spin then zoomed onto the drive.:D:D:D

CONCLUSION - She back on the road, purring and running like a dream again. Took her our Thursday night and she was brilliant.

Hints - to pump the accelerator half a dozen times before you turn the engine over, allows fuel through the pipe and eases the start. She starts first time now. So will do that from now on. Also will definately drive her every day to help prevent it happening again.[^][^]

Thank you Dozer - you deserve a commerdation for your hard work on her. I think she has a thing for you, cos she works well after youve tinkered with her. You certainly know your onions!!:):):)

Excellent [^] no need to drive her every day debs [:0] but I can't go longer than a couple of day's without driving ran :pbut would be confident to leave her a month, before starting,I just leave her in 1st gear & handbrake off.glad she's ok looking forward to the next meet [?]:p[8D]:)

or for those with unbalanced brakes - the Timewarp - "with a jump to the left........"

Great news Debs - well done Dozer, top man[8D]

If Skye only gets used for fairly short runs, the battery won't get a chance to recharge itself and lose a little every time she goes out - we have to crack open the battery charger for Glyns' Dads' Carlton every other week as he only drives 3 miles to town and back everyday. A good reason to make sure you give Skye a good outing on a regular basis (that's my excuse with Bessie and I'm sticking to it;))

hope when its rockin & rollin ( stu, pids) else where lol poor girl dont need that sort of drivin lesson ha ha

Talking about dampers:I I went round to my local motor-factors to day to get a set of front shock absorber mounting bushes for the Mini, 'sorry not on our lists' said the nice lady 'try the Rover specialist round the corner.' So I did and guess what, they are obsolete, original pattern no longer available. What chance do we stand getting daft little bits like that for our vans when you can't get them for 'The Car of the Century' and it's barely 8 years out of production [:(!] Rant over......for now.
