Skye has come home!!!!!

Thanks to the wonderful expertees of Dozer, Skye is home now and LEAK FREE!!!!!:):):)

She's had a new clutch slave cylinder, the big long gasket that goes along the mainfold (air intake thingy - i forgot), new electric bits, engine cleaned, petrol pipe renewed, wheel bearing tightened, oil change and new filter, and lots of other little bits replaced. The list goes on.[^][^] However, she has no dribbles now and is much quieter and more responsive and the engine sounds really sweet:):) I really missed her:I Dozer is absolutely brilliant and would recommend him to anybody who requires any work doing. He is very thorough and takes pride in what he does.

Thanks again Trevor - Your'e a real star:):D[^];);)

Your so lucky Debs,Ran is falling apart at the moment she needs loads of tlc & parts now, done sooooooo many miles :( tim just needs a nice dry warm workshop now :)I think a "How many miles have you done in yours" topic coming on [^]

Hopefully you will be able to dip into your 'stores' for the bits you need. Has Ran deteriorated so much in the few short month you have had her. Mind you for the most of it she didn't see much of the road below 70 [:0][}:)];)

now now that's not very nice [V]Ran has been used every day since the Devon meet [:0]she has done over 5,000 miles since april [:0]she has done numerous trips to the dump with smelly garden waste[:0]weekly shopping [:0]taxi for the kids [:0]trips out for dogs [:0]carried 3 teenagers 2 dogs & myself [:0]started 1st time every time [:0]she deserves a medal & lots of tlc [^]full service required every nipple to be greased :)Today I bought gear oil, brake fluid & antifreeze...Tim's had his ear bent :D[}:)]:Dhave got the neccesary parts to fit thats a relief :D

Hi Chris,, Just a thought..
You mentioned gear oil, I wonder what everone puts in the
Commer gearbox? I once put some nice slippy high quality gear oil
in JAY, ( this was the orig box, not the vaux one!) and it started
to jump out of 3rd[:0].. Someone told me to use engine oil in the box..
I think that this might also be recomended in the original handbook?
I never tried flushing and filling with eng oil too see if it stopped.. Dont want you having the same prob..
Cheers.. Will..

I just checked the original lubrication chart and it recommends Shell 100 for engine and gearbox, there's a surprise [:0]

You have my (or Bessies') sympathies;) - pretty much every day use for the last 2 years (including furniture moving and mobile studio). Only with a couple of minor breakdowns, looking forward to giving her a well earned pampering. Glyn managed to make a new exhaust for her today out of the system from a mercedes van so hopefully back on the road tomorrow (after bleeding the brakes after brake switch failure)

Good luck with Ran - she's a real trooper - hope Skye proves to be another of the daily commer commuter faithfuls[:X]

i was talking to someone tother day and they said they remember using commers for work and they only ever used engine oil in gearboxes cos they found nothing but trouble with any other oil and ive had t same with moggies
