skimming cast head for high CR

So the engine tweaking has begun.

Ordered the HIF44 adaptor kit from Tim Commer, along with an alloy tank and my other half being a mini mad lady has an RC40 up her sleeve.

I have the head off for a clean and polish and such, but wondered if there was an accepted safe amount to skim off to boost CR and get a bit more bang and squeeze going in my engine?

Someone said 2mm, but that seems like a flipping lot from the bit i know of heads!

Any info please?

Tim

The iron head engine is a low comp engine anyway but if you feel that's a bit too much go f0r 1.5, which is about 60 thou, you dont want to knock the bottom end out ;) I've never done it by the way but commeracer has

This might be a ridiculous question but what makes the low and high compression engines differ from each other? I thought it was just the head?

Both have dished Pistons, the Holbay had flat top. I haven't compared details but it's probably slightly longer stroke on on th hc engine.
