Whereas I find it's always easier before the pubs open

It's certainly been a challenge so far, for something normally so simple but on the postive side I've learnt a lot more about dizzies. New dizzy could be here on Sat, Simonbbc has confirmed Lucas Sport coil is OK with it (& a refund on my 45 points)- so fingers crossed !

I'll package up the Lucas 25 magnetic points and confirm postage, so I can get this out to you Tim for Sybhil as agreed.

Tim, have sent you a PM.

I fitted my new SimonBBC electronic dizzy and Lucas 'sport coil' last night, very straightforward and much smoother running. Time will tell re. reliability and strength of the unit.

So with new dizzy, coil, K&N, 'Panky (tm)' exhaust and timing at 7 BDTC we're running like a dream Dare I admit enjoying it all so much, purely for research purposes, I squeezed 70mph out of our van last night and felt it had just a bit more to go too [:0] but lost power suddenly - luckily just due to fuel line dropping out of carb.

Will happily cruise at a more regular 55mph now - roll on that overdrive though

BTW : Any tips for fixing the fuel line into the carb more robustly (the smoking petrol on the manifold was a bit worrying) ?

Thanks for the advice re. jubilee clip but actually its the metal 'plug' itself which fits into the carb which keeps popping out, rather than the pipe - I didn't make this clear. Mmmm, hot petrol fumes [xx(]

I had the same problem on the PO van. Driving along, smelt very strong petrol fumes, opened the lid to find petrol spraying everywhere [:0] The brass inlet pipe had popped out of the carb, very dangerous [B)]
Threw the carb away[!]

a drop of loctite will cure it

Thanks Tim, now giving some Loctite a try but also tied it up with wire around the jubliee clip and suitable fixing on the carb - between them I don't think it should drop out now !

Hi Panky, I was just looking at your pic here...

... and I see you ran the wires from the module back on themselves - did you not find that they were a little squashed this way and might possibly stop the vacuum advance plate from moving freely[?][?] I ran mine the other way round (by the space occupied by the old condensor). I'm not sure which way is best. I am little concerned that the rotor could lop my wires off if they move significantly, but I still thought it was the better route. Just a thought.
