short live 2nd trip in the Vista...

Was taking the van to b and q to get some wood then all,of a sudden 1 mile down the road any gear selection apart from 3rd, that I think its stuck in, seems to be to be reverse. Gearlever feels funny and jammed, no neutral either. Been under and pulled the select off, bit with the white ball joint ends and it popped back on well and seems good. All the mechanism underneath seems free but still this problem. Anyone have any ideas out there please, hoping its not a sign of things to come :/

cheers

Happened to me on the first journey - I think it was the linkages for selecting gears at the gearbox end rather than the gearstick end

Yep its a sign of things to come very simple to fix if you are mechanically
minded I think Mm even had an aligning tool ;)

Dead easy to sort out the gear change rod bushes:)

Well a fun and games weekend. Went up to see Mr Maltas Saturday night to pick up the bushes, missed the Sheffield Wed game for it, which turned out to be a good thing :)

Got the bushes sorted with some sore knuckles and it feel great however thing the gearbox may have gone unless someone else has an idea. I seem to have some forward gears but no reverse and no neutral at all, ive tried winding the selector right the way out and as expected lost 1 and 3rd but still no. Reverse or neutral. the strange thing is that where neutral and reverse is (or think they are) when you lift the clutch pedal there is resistance that will stall the engine but the van doesn't even try to move, I've never had that before. Does it sound like the gearbox has dropped a b*llock? There's doesn't seem to be any weird noises coming from it. At a loss now, hoping not a new box time already. Was thinking about od but not this early on.

Thank for all the help above already chaps

The selector rod may have been fiddled with in the past to take account of the worn bushes, it maybe just a case of trial and error to find the 'sweet spot'
Just a thought, is there any oil in the gearbox:I

Thanks panky, its the gears with no movement that's a bit weird to me where it stalls, can't get my head round that. Not checked oil as just got so presumed should be ok, its not dumped any. I'll drain it to check and for lumps :/
