She has arrived at last!

Well after a fairly long wait I got my project delivered to the farm last night. I had stumbled upon this on the way to work at Montrose. After a fair bit of fannying about I managed to track down the owner and do a deal.

Had a brief look over her this morning and things are pretty encouraging:D Altough the bottom 8 inches are gone the rest of the body is solid. The cab floor needs patching here and there but nothing major. The bottom of the doors is ok but I'm not to fussed about that anyway as its not structural. The underside is surprisingly good, axles and diff etc need a good clean up.

Although it has been sat for nearly 4 years the wheels were not bound on. Got a battery hooked up and the engine turns freely. Was getting a spark at the dizzy but I reckon the HT leads are fooked. A good thorough service methinks.

Interior is really good, no damp damage. The varnish has not peeled and the front seats are in good nick. Even the ****ty ancient tape player sputtered into life! All the lights work and the only issue was a dodgy indicator. Inner wings look good and clean.

Got some really good paper work with her as well. The original service book with the first owners details. He took delivery of her on the 6th of November 1972. Last oil change was in August 1984, probably good for another 25 years!

All in all very happy considering what I got her for. Plan is to get her on axle stands. Chop out all the **** metal and make a start on the welding. Will keep you posted, this could be a long project!! And if its too far gone I will just break it for spares.

Here are some pictures.......

If the bible has taught us anything, and it hasn't, its that women should stick to girly sports like foxy boxing and hot oil wresting.

Only a week since selling Olive the Highwayman and you have another Commer! I know a pop top was what you really wanted in the first place. Just couldn't stay away could you? Good luck with the rebuild.
The non starting on Olive was traced to bad earth connections and not the battery after all.

ITS JUST COMMERN SENSE TO HAVE ONE

Hi Martin, I'd already bought her actually was just waiting on getting it transported to me. Will keep you posted on the build.

Glad you got the starting issues sorted, did you get the glass replaced and get to Goodwood? :D

Yes! Thanks to the ever helpful Martin Maltas I now have glass in the old girl. I didn't take Olive to Goodwood this morning as I'm still halfway through a full service. Another week or so and she should be going like a dream as well as looking pretty (thats Olive the commer not my wife).
Bye for now. Martin
