Hello all, sorry its been a while and hope you are all well and fine.
Good news is weve a little one on the way and the bad news ... well I was hoping to announce that we'll be coming to the meet but not looking that way.
Even with the very welcome help and guidance from martin over the phone. I didnt manage to get the old girl through the MOT. I did what we said and changed the cylinder on the left and adjusted it but apparently it was 100 v 180 and not balanced enough to get the green light. Can anyone help ?
She's living in Devon and I'm in the old smoke. I'm going to go down again soon and have another fiddle but am thinking she has a better chance with someone who knows better than me. Don't want to waste another MOT without being fairly confident of passing.

So at the end of all that does anyone know anyone near tiverton or devon way who might be able to help ?
Otherwise not sure what next, appart from the brakes everything else was fine and teh engine is singing very well
 
Congratulations on the expected little one[8D]
I'm a bit too far away to be of much hands-on use but the way I adjust the brakes is, with the wheel off, wind up the adjuster until the wheel starts to lock up then give the drum a few taps with a hammer and see if the drum turns freely again. Adjust up again and give it another tap or two. When the brakes bind no matter how much you tap the drum wind the adjuster off a couple of notches so the drum spins freely. Repeat on the other side. The cylinders come with two different bores so if you still have trouble balancing them check they are both the same.
Alternatively you could always ask the garage to adjust them for you:I

congrats on the little one and commisserations on the MOT!...is that the only fail?
Did the garage not offer advice/offer to correct the problem? Mine did that and it just turned out to be the cable 'snagging' due to lack of lubrication/use!....a few squirts of WD49 later and all was well:D
