Thankfully found a local shop that specializes in British vehicles - more the high end ones - but they actually serviced my lovely in the past, and remembered it. http://owenauto.ca/
Had a long chat with the mechanic and he was quite frank about it being an older vehicle, with the vast majority of the parts being original.
, and uncertain about getting replacement parts.
It has not been driven much in its life - ODO reads 48,380 for a 1969 vehicle.
I mentioned fumes, alternator/ battery concerns, poor idling, sooty tailpipe.
Any suggestions on what else I can have examined whilst there?
Safety and reliability are my two biggest priorities, and I know I'll have to be pragmatic about the latter.
I've been spending most evenings reading through rebuilds and repairs - took a while to figure out what the hell this 'dizzy' thing everyone was referring to. 'Oh!! the octopus thingy'!!
.
Thanks to all who keep sharing their wisdom and support here.
