Seattle Commers

I finally loaded some pics on the web.
Here's the 2 we have in Seattle. Both came down from Vancouver BC. The 62 I bought a year ago, and the 67 was picked up in the summer for a friend. The 62 runs, but poorly as teh carb is shot. The 67 has a siezed engine.

Hi, they look really solid (at least Woolfy won't be pestering you!), I would like to get hold of one of the one piece commer signs you have, does anyone have one for sale?
Were many supplied to the states, I know you said before they were pretty rare?

Hi A.P.
Iv'e just realised who you are as I know you as your other self on a certain small car forum.
It's great to see your stateside Commers, i like those roof mounted direction indicators and the white walls, they look cool[8D][8D]
Please keep us up to speed on your progress
Cheers

When Woolfy gets his corner panes made, I may have to bother him as 1 or 2 of mine are in poor shape, and I don't much feel like making them myself. Although, the way the exchange rate is going, I may not want to buy in the future!

I never see any spares here in the US. Most are north in Canada, especially in BC where alot of ex-pat. brits live. I really need to get over to Victoria and have a look around. I'll either do it in the Imp or the Commer. Either one will turn heads :D

The top lights are deff cool. Unfortunatly I broke one of the lenses while swapping out a bulb. I just got through with a bidding war on Ebay for one, and I lost [:(!]

I may have to end up buyin g the Autosleeper off my friend and get it going as it's just stuck in a barn holding all his valubles from getting flooded when the river rises!
Like his wheels too...

Nice pair of vans. I like the cab steps on the '67. Is it me or do these PBs look even cooler than normal.

that white 62 model with its roof mounted indicators and wrap around rear windows looks so dam cool ,in its own right it looks as rare and reminds me of the 23 peace window model of the vw splitty type. keep on rockin and rollin.that thing looks sh-- hot to me and would pay top dollar for it.

I had a fire at my shop a while ago. In the process of preventing the shop from burning to the ground, I shoved the flaming car (source of fire) out of the shop next to where the Commer was parked... It got toasted... Not too bad, but a couple panels lost their original paint.

My site is pretty crude as I would rather work on the cars tham write about it... but you get an idea of my sicknesseseseseessses... oh yeah I'm sick :p

Wow [:0], looks like you were really lucky the lot didn't go up. What caused the fire? by the look of the pictures the Beemer seems to have been the culprit. No one hurt I hope.

Yup, The BMW... 'Burn My Werkshoppe' [xx(]

I asked the insurance for some $ for damage to the Commer, but they will probably tell me it exceeds the value of the van... in which case I'll ask them to find me a replacement in the US ;) Good luck with that Mr. Corprate brownoser.

The insurance estimator was a classic car fan and took a likin' to the Commer. He ended up cutting me a check for $545 US to get the damaged stripped and primed, which I think is fair enough.I just need to figure out how to turn that 500 into 5000 to pay for the full paint job!

I got sick of looking at the toasted commer and stripepd off the panels to bare metal to repaint. So far I'm working on getting the major rents removed and treating the rust to make sure it doesn't come back through the new paint.
I don't think I'm going to do a real fine job with the bodywork, but leave the minor imperfections visable as I don't have the time or spare money to make it perfect. I really just want it to look decent and not continue to go downhill.

There are a few bad dents in her, down around the corners where the bumpers have beem smacked it. I'm finding one really hard to pull as the metal is so thick and it's got another panel behind it!
I have one of those dent pullers that welds a stud to the metal, but it refuses to pull the dents! The body grooves seem to add tothe strength and onece they are bent the wrong way, goo luck pulling them back.
I may just put it on the lift and remove the second panel so I can pop it out from the inside.

There seems to be quite a few areas that have unreachable sections behind dents.

More soon, maybe even pics...

good to hear you and the van are alive and kicking and that a bit of a fire hasn't put you off!!! The meal on the vans are thicker than most modern vehicles - does anyone have an idea of the guage?

It will be :D[}:)]
It's a Sunbeam Rapier lump similar to the one Paul has just fitted.

ooooooooh :pby the way that seattle commer with the yellow roof is gorgeous [:X] like my no.1 [^] has anyone heard from paul [?]
