[:0]I went out for a blast in our Commer last night and got to just past 65mph before I bottled it
It's now runs very comfortably at 50-55mph though.I was expecting SOME difference with our new 'custom' exhaust and K&N filter (Panky, I seriously owe you a bottle of the red stuff !). However I'm rather blown away by the transformation in overall response and (relative) performance
The test run showed some small leaks, so I've bought some exhaust paste today to cure those. Our tailpipe also needs tidying as it's just an offcut but purely a cosmetic change.
Our exhaust noise levels are certainly no worse than with the Commer original, although we now have a deeper note. There is some induction noise from the K&N but minor in the overall scheme of things, as it's soon drowned out by the mechanic fan.
I've not yet fitted our 'SimonBBC' magnetic points, as I wanted to not make too many changes all at once and hit problems which would be difficult to trace. I will now fit and test these in time for our big trip to Glastonbury in a couple of weeks time.
