Scalextric on TV

Isn't it funny how as we get older we revert back to being kids?

The Bush Pig is golden again thanks to Tamiflu;-)

Some of us never stopped being kids, we just got bigger!

These go for over £100 when they come up for sale. If only the collector I got it from knew I was going to slot it!

Surely, that is more worth that a full size Marina ? :D:D:D

Norway was littered with Marinas for years, and quite a few friends had them as their first car after passing their tests as (seemingly) nice ones could be picked up for virtually no money. But when you lifted the carpets and saw what was underneath - all the crap they didn't bother fitting to the actual car (nuts, bolts, washers, brackets, bits of wire, the odd tool.. etc.) + a load of rust, the asking price started making sence. One of my mates actually called the Marina a "DIY vehicle", meaning that it was just half built when you had it delivered as new - i.e. the rest had to be finished by yourself. [xx(]

..and as for Scalextric, I have about 30 metres of track and probably some 40-odd FLY, SCX, Spirit and Scalextric cars hidden in boxes here.

I really cannot wait to get it all set up again - when our flat is fully renovated one day (taken ages so far). I'm an addict ! :)

And as I've managed to get BBC1 and BBC2 on my 'puter now, I'll be glued to the screen tonight. :p

I heard of Marinas, during the height of the workers unrest - leaving the factory with drum brakes one side and a disc brakes on the other. These oversights were only spotted when the dealers received the vehicles. Shocking! It's not surprise we no longer have a car industry in this country [V]

The Scalextric prog was good though! :D

I had a marina it was great until the rear spring came through the floor hahahahah was advertised for £250 offered him 200 he said you can have it for 150 but don't tell my mrs :D10 mths or so later stuck it on ebay & got my money back & a bit more how cool was that.

As Marinas was a part of my childhood/teen days, they do have a certain novelty, I do admit that. But in my eyes very little else, I'm afraid.

That said, I am fascinated by the Dormobile camper version of the Marina van. :)

May's Scalextric show was pretty good, though. In an "entertainment for the masses" kind of way. [^]

as for combineing hornby railways and scalextrics you can, back in the seventys you could buy a motorway set called minic cars or something or other like that, they wernt really racing car sets to start off with but more of your ordinary morris minors ect, and the scale size of the cars was just about right in comparison with the trains from hornby. so you could combine the two together to make a realistic sceen. you can still buy them on ebay if you look for them. im sure the name is mimic or minic or something like that. someone put a picture up on here if you can find one on ebay please for others to see.;):p
