Hi Papa Smurf, Is this the van we saw when we came to view Smurf[?] It's looking great!

Did you get mail from us the other week? about the paint colour? I'm so cross with myself coz we been away in Smurf and it was quite windy first couple of days and ther is no door check strap on drivers door...you guessed it, gust of wind and now we have damaged the door[:0][:0]....Cazz was not impressed with me that day lol
 
I have some check straps, but its a bit like shutting the door after the horse has bolted [V]

I think the damage may be more than I originally thought[:(!]

But as soon as we can cobble together the cash Martin we will be in touch for the strap and also still really want those rear door rubbers
 
latest update
all the welding is finished,the van is now in primer and ready for painting,the underneath has been scraped, brushed and hammerited.should be at the painters next week.the cab is now painted the colour the van will be.basically blue with a white side flash and white roof

been a quiet week on the camper front as richie the bodywork guru has manflu,so back to the newark van resto
all of this weeks work is thanks to jon who has stripped and rebuilt a 33000 mile holbay engine and installed it yesterday with hinderance from rich

sitting happily in the engine bay.since we took out the panel the air filter sat on with a minor alteration to the battery tray it is possible to fit twin webers

this is the overdrive gearbox bracket donated by woolfys panel van
not sure if its original equipment or homemade

overdrive gearbox rebuilt with all the linkages attached,now being unrebuilt as we didnt read the panky/big monkey man guide to swopping the bellhousing and input shaft

That is going to be a very special ride[^] The crossmember is a homebrew (one for Rupert's album) the originals are very similar to the normal gearbox type, they are clamped in place by the bolts at the back of the box - if I remember correctly.
I'm dead chuffed - Steve following MY advise - that's a turn around:I

panky what propshaft did you use becaus hunter props are a mile 2 long rapier fastback split props wont fit and everything else ie singer vogues humber sceptres etc etc are 2 long again.
 
The one I used was off a Hunter GT with OD fitted - thats what the box came off originally

Not at all - it went straight on, if anything it was 1/2" shorter than ideal. It came with the gearbox and it doesn't look like it has been modified - it was the one Paulfordy got with the engine he put in his Highwayman a couple of years ago, I know he didn't mod it because he fitted his auto box to the GT engine.

Hi Steve, just been out to measure my prop - 32 1/4" from the flange face at the diff to front shoulder on gearbox end of UJ.

OOh tell us more:p
I think Paul Goldsmith has found the answer to the prop problem - the front part of the split prop atached to the diff flange UJ seems to be the right length.
