Rover

Unfortunately the Rover is going to have to go, not because of any problem with the car but problems for me getting in and out of it. I'm afraid my heart ruled my head when I bought it. I have to shove the seat as far back as it will go to get in or out and then adjust it before I start driving and they haven't helped by not fitting one of them handles above the drivers side window so you can grab hold of it to help yourself get in and out. Once I'm in behind the wheel it is luxury motoring, so comfortable and quiet for a diesel.
I went to look at a Vauxhall zafira today and I can just stick my bum on the seat and I'm in but it feels cheap and nasty compared to the Rover. Anybody any experience of the zafira.

They're like brothers, Chamba ! Look ! :)

Couldn't agree more with what you're saying there. It really is a bittersweet feeling to be driving one of the very last of the mass produced Brits. I'd too been pondering on ownership for a while when we went for the plunge, and part of me was thinking "it's now or never" as there won't be any more. A sad finale, but - K-series engine troubles apart - a grand finale ! Wonderful cars, no question.

I've made the getting in and out easier, what I do is shove the seat as far back as it will go, climb out and then when I get back in shove the seat back to my driving position:D Once I'm in it's luxury motoring, even though it's diesel it's so quiet and the speed builds up without any effort.[8D]

Good decision, I think, Les ! Zafiras are generally reliable and ok vehicles, but in the excitement department they don't offer a lot..

Keep on Rovering :)

I had a Zaffy once. Really nice car but as has been said, not particularly 'interesting' to drive. Came close to getting a 2.5 Rover estate just before Christmas but got this instead:

Well Chris that is my intention as I don't do all that many miles normally. My last commer was used for going to work, shopping, visiting relatives and holidays as it was the only vehicle that I had. When Woolfy gets Lulu sorted he is going top get it MOT'd and then I will see if I can get her taxed on the internet, I already have her insured and then I can go down to Woolfy's on the train, with the dogs of course, and drive her back to Yorkshire and then once I know she's running as good as my last van I will probable sell the rover.

Just thought I'd update this about the rover. The rover has pull handles, or whatever they're called above all the seats except the drivers seat, although the bolt holes are there. I contacted a rover breaker and got one of these handles off him, fit it and it is now a lot easier for me getting in and out.:D

They're known as F M handles - as in you grab them and exclaim "F**k Me!" if your driver is a bit dodgy.

Anyone got a genuine Rover 75 radio with 6 CD player for sale. Mine has a Sony radio but it doesn't connect up to the steering wheel controls.:)[:X]

I put a message on the Rover 75 forum and come up trumps, radio with 6 changer CD player for £60.00 that's including the postage. Hopefully
the Sony will fit into Lulu if the one that was with her has gone missing.

Unfortunately the radio and cd changer do not talk to each other and I have to get a rover - pioneer interface to make the cd changer work.
There is one advertised on ebay "buy it now or make an offer", I've made 2 offers and the seller is too ignorant to even reply so I'm hoping to get one elsewhere.[:(!]
