rover p5 axle

Got the axle back home and even negotiated a bargain price for the prop, its just had new UJ's fitted and the lot balanced:D I promised to use as much of it as I can. I arrived at Nick's (the guy selling) and new straight away I was in the right place as there was a beautiful Rover 90 (I think, maybe 100)towing a trailer and an equally smart P5B park next to it:p. Unfortunately Nick and Micky (MR P5B) were incapacitated with back and knee problems respectively so it was left up to me to haul the axle from the back of the unit and onto the trailer, it's heavy[xx(]. We convoyed the few miles back to my place in the sunshine and it was great to see all the smiling faces and looks of approval as we passed by, I didn't realise my Ford Focus could attract so much admiration ;). After a brief chat we said ta ta and I was left to haul the thing up the drive and manoeuvre it to the back of the garage, taking care not to bash the Mini. Phew it's safe and dry now and waiting to be mated up to the Rapier engine and OD, can't help wondering if it will be a little over-geared now, no problem I just wont use OD in top until I get the V8 fitted [}:)]. does it have a tag on it to tell you the ratio [?]

Hello Mr Average :) Didn't notice a tag, I was too bust wiping the sweat and hair out of my eyes - I'll check tomorrow.

Hey Will, you mentioned in PC that you had fitted a Rover axle was it an easy conversion. How did you sort out damper connections.

There's a series of numbers stamped on the diff housing starting with 3.9, that is the only bit I can think refers to the ratio.

that sounds about right, certainly more sensible than 5.12 or 5.62.
go to 14" wheels with low profiles and add a supercharger [^]:p

Bugger [V] I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer for a set of P5 Rostyles to go with the axle. Just got out bid on a set while I was busy dealing with the house drains overflowing down the drive. Why does that always happen just when you're bidding on a set of wheels [:(!]

Still mustn't grumble, spent a lovely hour rodding the drain through [xx(] It took 14 5 foot rods to get to the blockage, what a way to spend a Saturday afternoon:I

Panky sorry ~I think it might have been me who out bid you on the P5 wheels will keep an eye out for some more and let you know if you want. sorry again.
And maybe to ad insult can you or anyone recommend someone to refurbish them ie rechrome etc.

I'm neither insulted or injured old chap just a bit miffed I didn't give you more of a run for you money :) Good to know they didn't get wasted on a Rover[}:)] OK you lot the next ones are MINE [:(!]
