Rotten old Commers

It's not very often that I get upset about the condition of a Commer I have bought, but it was bound to happen [V]
I recently bought, unseen, what was described as a 'Rust free' example. Now with my experience of these wonderful vehicles, I know there is rarely one of these.
So, on it's arrival, I wasn't too surprised to see the odd suspicious area. However, in my usual way I started to pull it apart [}:)] Nothing prepared me for what I found [:0]
The front valance was completely rotten, but what was worse, it had been filled with squirty foam, shaped and given a skim of filler. This continued with the bottom of the doors and the door step cills. What was worse, was the inner cill, behind the door steps was missing and again filled with foam[:0]
I know I should have gone and seen it, but being 300 miles away, I took a chance.
I must add, this was not purchased from a forum member [^]
I paid very good money for this van, so let it be a warning to other members, never buy anything unseen, if you don't know what you are looking at, get someone to look for you. Even the experienced among us get caught out :I

what a shame :(, its unfortunate that there are people out there that think filler/foam/paper etc is a good replacement for steel [V]
some people should have their tools taken away [}:)]

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

sounds like "never been welded" would have been a more accurate description!

Have you phoned back and told them they have a nerve? nothing to lose in venting; except some steam

did they mean 'the rust is free'? was it an ebayer? am guessing it won't be a glowing feedback...

Bessie - four star commerdation

Unfortunately an all too familiar site[V] but a damned site worse when you take some ones word and they s***w you[:(!]

'Harvey the RV'

I think you can safely say that Smurf(ette) is one of the few truly rust free vans around[^] If only they where all like that:I

'Harvey the RV'

Well not quite, have noticed a couple of tiny spots under the doors where they must catch a bit, so need to sort that so it doesnt get worse...:(

Cazz... student commerade!!!!
