Rotor Arm quality

Finally got the exhaust on the van, after having new studs out into the manifold, and replaced the superglued rotor arm with a new speedy spares one.
However after multiple turns no joy, spark at the points but no spark at the plug so off with the new rotor arm and back on with the superglued one - low and behold the engine fired up ?

Is my bodging now a superior product than the current batch or have people other experiences of bad rotor arms ?
 
I recently got 1 from Speedys...no problems with it though!

There are 2 types of Dizzy, did you def get the right one for your van?

there used to be a problem with rotor arms (About 6-7 years ago) they were made of poor quality plastic and ended up conducting when you don't want them to!

I thought the problem was sorted but I could be wrong.

I had this issue on my minor and got through three before I eventually went back to an old one.

It felt a bit tight on the rotor end but it is the same dimensions as the one I took off.

Just one of those things I suppose
 
I had a couple of dodgy rotors and I've heard of some bad ones coming through a couple of years back which led me to suspect the new one.
 
I've heard of the poor quality rotor arms/points/condensors available on the market in recent years - I think Lucas and the like stopped manufacturing stuff for older cars and production probably moved to sweat shops in the far east.

Worth buying a rotor arm from a different source and hope that it's a gooden!
 
Quality on rotor arms is known to be tempermental. They are so cheap. Depends if the Chinese child got fed that day if he was able to operate the machine properly
