ROOTES MOFFAT RALLY

that does sound good - its the wrong way for me though! How many of you are there going to be? Is that journey for the saturday morning? The main road run is at 12:00 isn't it?

Really looking forward to it now!

Just got back from Moffat.
Took us 9 hours, in Chicko [:0] Had our 1st breakdown on one of the busiest roundabouts in Leeds[:(!] Fortunately, only the LT lead had dropped off the coil.
Met up with Steve Willians and the Avenger club, at White Scar Caves. Then proceeded to go accross the moors to the Tan Hill pub, for lunch. Just before Tan Hill, there is a bl**dy great hill with 2 hairpins. I engaged 1st gear right from the start, pulled all the way up no problems and got a cheer when we reached the top:D Then found we had lost 4th gear[xx(] Had to travel the rest of the weekend, all 300 mile or so, in 3rd and o/d3rd[V] Still we made it.
The PO van was brought up on Sat, by a friend of mine. He had one brakedown, the accelerator linkage pin snapped, only took 15 mins and he was off again.
Overall we had a great weekend with 5 Commers turning up. I will post some pics and descriptions, when Karen downloads her camera. Nice to meet Rupert(Bigmonkeyman) and the kids. Thanks for the Commer cup cakes:p
Sat we had a 40 mile run round the hills of Moffat, with 300 cars attending. Only one car broke down and he made it back under his own steam. Sun was the main show, with some 900 cars booked in. A good proportion of these were Rootes based.
Came back in 4hrs [:0]
Thanks to Gordon Bissett and his team, for a great show, all in support of Cancer Relief.
I'll post more with pics later :)

What do you mean 'first breakdown' don't they include running out of petrol[}:)] My fist van conked out for the same coil related reason. When the engine cut out the was an almighty bang as unburnt fuel went straight through the cylinders and hit the hot exhaust, I thought I'd been shot [xx(]. Sounds like a cracking weekend and well worth the trip and all for a very worthy cause, applause required at this point [^].

here are a few pics
