Rootes Factory Australia

Hi all,
This is a photo of the original Rootes assembly plant at Salmon rd Port Melbourne. How it looks today. I intend to visit it when we return to the mainland as it is only a stones throw from the ferry dock.

It is great to see that it has had considerable renovations and not been demolished like most of them around the world.:)

Below is how it looked in 2003,[xx(]

And how it looked back in the day. Above photos are taken at top left corner of picture.:)

I am not sure if Commers were assembled as CKD "complete knock down" kits here or at the Chrysler factory at Tonsley. My Commer's plate states Chrysler South Australia.
Can anyone shed some light on where the Commer vans were assembled in Australia?.
Was it at the above factory or Tonsley?.
The Tonsley factory ended its life building Mitsubishi cars and is now being demolished/redeveloped.

Wherever we roam,
we still call our Commer home!
