Roof leaks

I know I bored 1 or 2 of you on here before about this subject.... and everyone seemed to answer - 'roofleaks? no, not us!:D'

Anyway, I have traced a roof leak coming in at the front right, and left hand corners of the pop top roof. It seems to be coming in at the bottom edge/corner of the plywood side panels. The van is in excellent orginal condition, with the interior all original. There is no obvious signs of damage or missing seals etc. to give an idea of how the water is getting in??

As most of you know the autosleeper sides hinged upwards into position. I replaced the rubber caps and screw on the f/g roof...but still water comes in! - any ideas anyone?
 
On the Autosleeper, when the roof was cut out, they turned up the edges of the opening to form a lip. The wooden frame then sits over this. So in theory, you shouldn't get any water creaping in. However, rust can form underneath the wood, forming pinholes [xx(]. I would try sealing around the timber frame and roof joint.

Sybhil has a tiny leak in the roof but it isn't the pop top it is getting in when the roof is up,if I park on a slight slope! it is a small hole in the metal on the seam of the tin..I can see it if I stand in the drivers door side looking down at the side of the roof.

Have had similar dampy marks in those corners on first van so you are not alone ;)

roof didn't sit flush with bodywork when down so plenty of scope for mine to push water through any rusty pinholes whilst driving.....[xx(]

Right taken the advice... and have sealed up with mastic around the front lower corners where some old looking 1970's mastic was looking a bit tired. Off to St. Ives tomorrow, and with the summer we've had it WILL be tested.[:0]

Gonna test out the new front bunk as well. Will take some snaps and post them when we get back.
