Blue vans with white hats seem to gravitate to you, you're not doing anything to dispel the Papa Smurf image ;)

Well saved, a bit of filler here and there and like new :)

im just glad we managed to save it from the crusher, thanks for taking it steve. like i said to steve and richard oh and tony the other day, i was going to have this one myself but it isnt really what ive been waiting for to come along. ive always wanted a commer panel van with a tin roof for advertising my buisness, and now that ive found one im really pleased for not only myself but for steve as hes got what he also wanted. everyones a winner.:p

i dont know tim they always seem to come out smelling of roses. take this for instance, i was down there the other day talking to the owner and his phone rings, he answered the phone and a guy asks how much for a rear light for a rover 75 and a front door, the owner replys £40.00 for the light and £ 80.oo for the door. now thats ok but he only pays between £80-£100 for a whole scrap car when people weigh them in. and hes got loads of other bits still to sell on it.[:0]

thats true, its having somewhere to store them all thats the problem.

there's a lovely old boy near us that had a couple of really marshy fields on his farm so as no good for crops or animals he takes cars and has done since the 50s - everything just stays there until it dissolves into the ground - He's had PBs there but they are long since 'flat' as he calls them - there are plenty of interesting survivors though....

we had a nice local scrappy in a field - they all have to have "solid" ie concrete bases now so that bad stuff doesn't leech into the earth I think

Sorry Steve, but the name papa smurf is def sticking with you now you have another smurfette lol!!!

Look forward to updates on your new van :D

Smurfette

Woolfy, the scrap business is a good business, salvage especially..we buy in scrappers now and pay at the most £150, but usually around the £50-70 mark.Scrap metal is at a low now, less than £100 per tonne compared with £220 per tonne 3 months ago.
WEe just got a new unit to store all the bits in, as it was getting ridicolous at the garage, literally tripping over engines!!.

I like the high top dodges!...room to stand up in i guess, instead of doing the 'commershuffle' on yer knees!..[}:)]

I WANT to go to that field.... its ace!

That van is really good. Why do these things get scrapped?! Good news for you I suppose... I wish there were scrappies with commers in round here, just a load of rusty pugeots and other dull modern stuff :(

hey chris the guy who owns all these vans would he be interested in selling all the doors off of the vans as im going to start my door swopping service very soon but i could do with as many doors as possible to start off with so i have some in stock. i would be willing to come down and collect them and take them off the vans,;):p

oh no - woolfie's starting a door monopoly!

I can see it now .... none of us own our commers any more - We just rent them from the big bad woolfie!
