And relax

The MOT man beckons this week. Squeek.

All being well, I'll then be winging my to Coventry to pick her up. More excited than an excited thing on a really exciting day.

Oh goody - we can look like a hire fleet (no offence Martin)

When we chose the colours of the van I spent quite a long time trawling through as many pictures as I could to avoid 'copying' other colour schemes. Beleive me there are some beautiful vans out there with combinations that really suit the shape and style of the Commer. I guess that I made things slightly harder on myself - or possibly clearer depending on perspective - by returning to the V5 and the originally notified clours of Orange & White. Admittedly, I pushed this slightly with the 'asbo' orange that we finally settled on but, love it or hate it, at least she would be unique. Then suddenly she's one of several vans being restored with this colour scheme. Therefore, please accept my apologies but you will have to excuse me having some rather mixed feelings about vans with the 'same' colours - I love that people dig the colours and that I must've made a good aesthetic decision but the flip side is some protectiveness about this. I don't want to come across as precious - we still haven't made a meet for people to get a feeling for who we are or where we are from - or be seen as pulling the Commer down the same style-over-substance route as the darksiders but I guess I'm feeling a little uncomfortable right now. I have always pushed boundaries and been slightly outside of the accepted norm - maybe this is just me getting scared that suddenly I'm being used as a benchmark and you guys are just crazy enough to out-weird me.

Jes - this is the longest online post I've ever done so sorry if it comes across as a rant or anything. Personally I blame the rum....

And breath.... She's passed her MOT with a couple of minor advisorys - slight brake imbalance on the front and the kingpins need looking at.

Then, with immaculate timing, we get her back just in time for Winter.

Reeeesult!

Re the imbalance, on Peggy last week the imbalance was cured by repeated hard application of the brakes on the MOT brake machine - it was just lack of use. The tester reckons I need to be harder on the brakes to get decent travel of the pistons in the cylinders. I've been braking very early and quite gently so as not to run out of brakes! So give those middle pedals a good hard shove guys and gals.!

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?
