Registering Commer as a classic vehicle in France

Hey fellow Commer owners/nutters

I have been trying to register my 1967 Commer Bluebird Wanderer as a historic vehicle here in France with FFVE. My file was rejected as they had the vehicle originally registered as a van in their catalogue and not a caravan (see attachment.) Unfortunately its last registration in Belgium it was listed as a minibus which doesn't help my cause. I sent them the original receipt which mentions it as a caravan and also the original registration book which has the body type listed as caravan, but i am told to reapply. Before i do, i wanted to see if there is any other data out there that i can use in my appeal to show it was always a camper and not a van / minibus? or if anyone had any other similar problems?


Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't be much help with advice for registration but if your van was registered as a caravan surely that should be enough for the authorities even if you do need to re-apply. Is it a long and costly process?

Thank you for replying. French bureaucracy is something else! It took 3 months to refuse my application so starting again is painful. The paperwork is extensive, luckily only cost €60, that is refunded if refused.

They think the vehicle has changed purpose from van to converted caravan. When i showed them the original receipt and registration book they said i can reapply but it's not guaranteed?!? Considering no one works in August who knows when this will happen.

Once it's recognised as a historic vehicle then it needs to pass the french mot and then on French plates, so a long way to go.
