Redex

Andrew mentioned putting carb cleaner into the carb, which brought back memories. We used to drip redex into the air intake on both cars and motorbikes, we also used to take the plugs out and pour redex into the plug hole and leave it for 24 hours. When the engine was started there was a load of tat from the exhaust with blue to black smoke everywhere for about an hour but the engines always seemed to run better afterwards. Anyone else on here used redex in this way and can confirm about it cleaning the carb and the cylinder and piston head, also it was used for freeing sticky piston rings.[:X][^]

One of Mr Maltas' campers has a Redex injection system fitted.

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

We had a Redex injector on our Triumph Mayflower!

I have used Redex in Bertie (our Punto Cabrio).

I forgot to mention of course that when you filled up at a filling station there was always a redex dispenser and you could add it to your petrol, I think it was something like - 1 shot of redex per 1 gallon of petrol. If I'm wrong I'm sure that somebody will help me out.I don't know if it did any good but at least it didn't do any damage. We thought it was wonderful.[:X]
