I am guessing BigRed might be in possession of this now. Pretty sure he was told it was his as soon as it cleared.

I just hope that this stays in one piece and that it ends up being properly restored to its former glory.

The news back in 2010 (wasn't it?) really broke my heart, and I know many others felt just the same. Seeing the van today still relatively intact, I can only hope that someone manages/have managed to buy the complete shell from this breaker. That it was torched was a deep tragedy, but it would be a new crime to break it up now - as it obviously (as if by magic) still is a complete shell.

An opportunity which really should not be missed !

I always remember hearing that same night a man was asleep
in his van also torched same carpark just awfull

Sounds like it is being cut up and the chassis has to be destroyed for insurance purposes.

Same discussion as back then, in other words. Then - as now - it was claimed that the insurance company wouldn't release it as a whole vehicle as it was a write-off of some category.

What a terrible shame that such a rare vehicle cannot be allowed to be restored to its former glory and remain a rare part of Commer history. I wish there was an ombudsman who could overturn the insurer's decision to brake this up in parts.

Very sad, all this!

hello hello hello, I aint been on for a while, so howdy to you all again. I remember this one very well, some scumbag kids set fire to a number of vehicles in his street including another motor home , which the guy was asleep inside it at the time. bob tried to buy the van back from the insurance company at the time, but they wouldn't let him claim the money for it, and also not right it off , so it had to be destroyed, the only thing is im surprised that it hasn't already been done?. maybe its been forgotten about?:p
