Rear brake slave cylinder - PB/Spacevan

Morning hoping someone can help. For spares I Ordered a couple of rear brake cylinders that said they were for all models up To ‘81. Looking at them the pistons inside have a large gap between them I suspect that’s for the arm to fill for a rear handbrake. As I don’t want to take the rear brakes apart to check does anyone know if there’s a ‘filler piece’ to take up the gap that would be in the current rear cylinders (on a front handbrake van) that could be transferred over if I came to change them in the future or is the piston on the later vans a single longer piece piston. I guess if not I’ll need to send them back.

Hopefully that makes sense!

The cylinders are all the same except for the hand brake lever which is removed for the later models. The internals are identicle and I've fitted earlier cylinders before now by removing the lever. I always strip them down, clean them and add a smear of red rubber grease to the seals and pistons.

Thanks Panky - amazed! it looked like the fluid side piston wouldn't be long enough to reach the outer piston before it popped out as there's a good 15mm gap to fill first (where the lever would've been).

Cheers - I will put them on the shelf in that case :)

Top tip.

Morris Minor 3/4" rear cylinders are the same design except for the brake pipe connections (Minor has a banjo bolt and different thread on the brake pipe end) so seals kits are the same and cheap:) With Minor cylinders at about £25 a pair it might be worth modifying the brake pipes to suit, next time I need to change them I might give it a go.
