I've been looking for this magazine for ages and found that Harvey had been keeping it safe for me. It's a supplement called '25 Years of Motorcaravans' and was given away free with the MMM 25th anniversary edition. I've selected anything Commer I could find.

First set of pictures includes the very first Autosleeper - on a Commer of course.

Next is the Commer Car Camper. Remember the Swedish one a few weeks back (or was it Swiss). Bed resides under the raised floor.

Here's a Commer Commer, what imagination.

many thanks:):) - they are really wonderful - that is one heck of a way to walk in that walk-thru - gorgeous. Love the Hadrian conversion on the commer commer page too - almost batman like in design.

Prototype autosleeper roof interesting stuff, looks neat without the over-sized plastic roof - am guessing it leaked like a sieve though

The Car Camper "Tiny Daisy" was a pain as you had to lift the seats back flat to the sides to make the bed ( Lift the floor ) so no storage under the seats, And the floor was very heavy , ( esp if you spent the evening with a drink!!) All you had was the back cupboard for the clothes , shoes, or every thing you need had to go in , or course no fridge but a cool box ( Water cooled) never had a heater fitted from new, also the front seat was so upsetting when you wanted to sort out the engine as you had to be out of the cab to get the seat up to lift the engine cover , and a 1500cc engine , you think a 1725 is slow !! I just got rid of mine it was a 1962 a very early Car Camper , I did love her even with her faults , but you cant keep them all so she went off to play with a friend,

Yes I can see the problems you must have had I guess that is why the Autosleeper reins supreme with the good use of space. The Car camper does look good though [^]

ooooh yes[B)]

Classic Commer, have you got any photos tucked in an album somewhere of Tiny Daisy? would be great to see - sounds like a great van, fiddly, but great. My first van had the 1500 engine, used to think of it as a petrol assisted walk in the countryside rather than a drive;)
