Rare old Austin panel vans - in Norway !

Hi all.

A colleague of mine just sent me this link:

Two old Austin panel vans for sale, and to be quite honest I don't think I've ever seen any of these as panel vans in my time. The red J2 was used by the fire brigade back in the day, probably explaining the small side doors on the side. Looks great, though. The JU250 looks very cool too, and really something you don't see every day. Great period look with a heavy duty roof rack which seems to have seen some heavy duty action during the years.

The kind of advert which you never expected to see, and makes the day special :)

Look in pretty good condition too. Shame the steering wheels are on the wrong side!

Nice! Would like the red one!

I very nearly bought a minibus version many years ago with a view to converting it to a camper. Went to see it one dark and rainy evening and it seemed to be just what I was looking for - then I saw it in the daylight:I The painted over gaffer tape holding the front panel on sort of changed my mind. Great quirky looking vans though:)

So you haven't 'left' yet then? (see what I did there?)

You should treasure those LHD photos from a time when England actually was exporting cars to all corners of the world, and was enormously successful too.

Those heydays are long gone.

The UK is producing more cars now than ever, I believe - and lots are being exported. However, the difference now is that the cars are produced by foreign owned companies.
