question re remote servos

I will no doubt be filling this section of the forum over the coming months!

Just started to get my head around "thing" re my recent purchase and the first this I want to understand is the remote servo thats been fitted!

Prob a question for Martin but - Is the Brake Fluid still topped up in the original place because it looks empty at the min and TBH the pedal travels a long way before anything happens (no doubt that's normal)

Cheers - I will top it up and keep my eyes on it - will give the brakes and overall early next year - just to be safe - The brakes at the min are poor to be honest and hoped they would / could be better!
 
If you have a remote servo and loss of fluid, it won't always show up as a leak that you can see. If it's a Lucas (Girling) servo, the little valve spool in the top of the servo has a different size rubber on each end, and if these perish and leak then fluid gets sucked past them up the vacuum pipe into the engine, and disappears without trace. This would also explain a lack of servo assistance to the brakes, as this is the control mechanism for the increased pressure. This happened on my truck, and it was difficult to track down. Power Track Ltd 01753 842680 sell a refurb kit for the servo, but I can't give you the part no. because mine was a special. Reassembling the servo during a refurb needs a bit of trickery too.

If it's a Lockheed servo, ignore me and simply buy a new one!
