Just to the left of the pod, so you can easily reach it to flick it on or off - I'll try to find a pic.

ok, back to the propshaft...

Does anyone know where I can send my propshaft to be shortened and balanced? - Names/Tel no's??

Despite living in Cornwall, the birthplace of the industrial revolution... Good engineering firms, willing to undertake the task are no longer on every street corner!??

Thanks, Ray

thanks steve... had just googled propshafts and they were already on my list, so will call them first tomorrow morning.

I got mine done by a local engineering firm where I get my steel stock from. Its in Edinburgh so er about as far from you as possible!

Has disaster struck....???

Having just re-fitted my gearbox and overdrive, I have just noticed a hairline crack running from one of the alloy bolt holes to the outside edge of the o/d where it mates up to the cast iron gearbox sump!!!! - about an inch and a half long. It may not be the end of the world(?) but will leak oil obviously. Does anyone have any repair ideas of do I need another gearbox[V]

Any useful comments anyone?
Cheers.

PS......'SHELLEYS' IF DEFINITELY THE PLACE TO GO FOR PROPSHAFT WORK. THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB ALTERING AND BALANCING MINE.

If there is anyone who could weld it then it would be Tim, tricky though with the oil contamination - I think I'd live with it for a while and keep an eye on it. It the crack on the flange or the main casing.

Will post up pciture tomorrow... but it is on the outer/lower alloy casing where in mates up to the cast iron gearbox sump. It runs from one of the bolt holes to the outside of the casing... 30-40mm long on the diagonal. It cant get any longer as it runs from a bolt hole. I wondered if some 'JB Chemical metal' might sort it?? I can live with an oil leak if that's as bad as it gets??

Sounds like the crack has propogated as far as its going to, so structually not a worry.
leak wise it could be welded, but it would need drained of oil and thorough flushing out with thinners to get the oil out.
could be chemical metal/devcon putty repaired but the cleaning first is again paramount :)
